Armed Robbers Aimed to Pay Off $90K in Alimony, Feds Say

A man unknowingly sought robbery advice for a target in Malden from a federal informant.

A man and his two sons were indicted Tuesday after attempting a robbery in Malden that was foiled by police, according to boston.com.

"Antonio Correia, Sr., 43, who law enforcement officials identified as the alleged ring leader, told investigators that he wanted to pull off a big score in order to pay off over $90,000 in alimony he owed his ex-wife, according to court documents.
"He allegedly conducted the attempted robbery with his two sons, who also were indicted," the Boston.com article says.

Correia unknowingly turned to an informant for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms for help in finding a target for a robbery. The target the informant set him up with was fictional.

The Boston.com article says when Correia and his sons arrived at 245 Commercial St., they "were swarmed by law enforcement officers and arrested. Police found two loaded guns, a .380 and a semi-automatic .45, near the men, as well as a starter pistol, pepper spray, a knife, gloves, and masks, the affidavit said."
