Malden School Closures - All But MVRCS Closed

Malden Public Schools, Malden Catholic, Cheverus and the Empire Beauty School have all been canceled Friday. Mystic Valley Regional Charter School will have an early dismissal at 12pm Friday.

Malden students rejoice: most classes are canceled for Friday, Feb. 8 due to an impending and "potentially historic" blizzard. Malden Public Schools, Malden Catholic, Cheverus and the Empire Beauty School have all been canceled Friday. Severe Thunderstorms, Wind Gusts and Hail Possible Today

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for eastern Massachusetts until 8 pm. on Tuesday.

PDATE 3:15 P.M.: The National Weather Service (NWS) has upgraded the severe thunderstorm watch to a warning for Middlesex county until 4:15 p.m. The NWS said in the warning statement that the thunderstorms could produce "deadly lightning" and torrential rain. "Get to safe shelter now, inside a sturdy building or in a vehicle," the statement said. "Do not seek shelter under trees. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Drivers should be alert for ponding of water and avoid flooded roads."
