Malden residents are invited to hear about the proposed design and share their feedback with the planning team this Wednesday at Suffolk Manor at 7 p.m..
Article, info and text provided by the Malden Redevelopment Authority: The community surrounding Miller Park in Malden has been convening since January to share their ideas about a renovation to Miller Park. The planning team has worked to incorporate and be inspired by as many community ideas as possible and will be hosting a meeting on Wednesday May 16 to share the proposed design with the community. This meeting will review the entire planning process, present the plans for the renovation of Miller Park, and solicit feedback to inform the design choices. Students at the Salemwood School listen closely as Ward 7 Councillor Neal Anderson speaks to them about the proposed renovations to Miller Park. The committee members, which includes Councillor Anderson, architect Abby Kilma, and urban artist Tova Speter came to the school to invite students to participate in the redesign of Miller Park. Students were asked to share their ideas of designing a park which would be inviting to all ages. Many of the students in attendance joined in on a design workshop held at Salemwood on March 25th. Malden residents have planned a party on Earth Day to paint and decorate trash cans and picnic tables at Miller Park as a part of the Park's ongoing renovation.
Article, text, and info provided by Miller Park Renovation organizers: Over 65 community members shared their excitement about adding community art to Miller Park at a recent Community Art Workshop at the Salemwood School. Their enthusiasm is now inspiring a "Painting in the Park party," during which participants will be able to design and paint existing trash cans and picnic tables at the park. As the community continues to plan a hopeful renovation to Miller Park, this event will allow for a colorful change as a visual celebration of the community’s dedication to transforming Miller Park into a place everyone can enjoy. The Malden Redevelopment Authority will be holding community presentations and input meetings on February 1st and 15th to flesh out the details of Miller Park's renovation.
