Judge declared Michael Ginnetti dangerous at a Friday hearing in Lynn Court.
One of the alleged robbers who led police through a chase down Route 99 and a gunfight has been declared dangerous and held on $1 million bail. A Lynn District Court judge ordered Michael Ginnetti, 38, of Winthrop held after the hearing late Friday morning. Ginnetti was already out on bail, and is in violation of those bail terms, according to prosecutors in the case. He may be remanded to 60 days in prison as a result. Details about why Ginnetti was already out on bail were not available during the hearing. The Essex County District Attorney’s office plans to release a statement explaining the situation later today. Ginnetti faces 10 charges, including armed robbery and several gun charges. He was captured near Granada Highlands in the …

Middlesex District attorney's office releases statement saying witness interviews and physical evidence undermined the theory.
Authorities are no longer seeking a potential fourth suspect in the aftermath of a daylight shoot-out and manhunt last weekend, a Middlesex District Attorney's office spokesperson confirmed late Wednesday. "While reports of a fourth possible suspect have circulated since the incident, a subsequent investigation, which included examining physical evidence from the crime scenes and conducting witness interviews, into the credibility of the report has resulted in the conclusion that a fourth suspect does not exist," the statement read. A Saugus police officer reported seeing a fourth suspect in the getaway vehicle as suspects sped from police down Route 1, though later witnesses reported only three men exiting the vehicle in the Cliffside …

Lt. Kevin Molis told residents during the Ward 8 crime meeting that investigators have not "totally ruled out" the possibility, but that their efforts are now focused on building a criminal case against three suspects arrested Friday.
Comments made by a Malden Police Lieutenant during a Ward 8 community crime meeting at Linden School Monday suggest investigators may be close to abandoning a theory that an additional, fourth suspect eluded police during an extensive manhunt Friday. Officers arrested three men after a Saugus bank robbery turned into a chaotic shootout on Broadway last week, though a preliminary report from a Saugus Police officer identified four suspects in the suspect's getaway car as it spend down Route 1. “The investigation at this point continues, but I believe it continues more along the lines of building the criminal case against those who have been charged, and exhausting any and all leads to the involvement of anyone else,” Lt. Kevin Molis said …

"I don't want to hurt you - we're in a lot of trouble." Documents released by the courts reveal new details about the chaotic scene in Malden Friday evening, including the attempted car jacking of a mother and her newborn baby on Broadway.
Investigating agencies have been tight-lipped about the shoot-out and subsequent manhunt for suspects in connection to a Saugus bank robbery last Friday, but newly released court documents can now provide a deeper level of detail to the evening's chaotic events. The following narrative was pieced together with information provided by the Malden and Lynn district courts, including firsthand reports from nine police officers and paraphrased witnesses. Information about the bank robbery was relayed to local officers by FBI investigators. Note that all of the circumstances described below are alleged to have occurred by the officers who wrote the reports—none of these supects have been convicted of any crimes, and are considered innocent …

YOUR TURN: Reader Mike Farren said he was "proud" of the way a Malden Police Officer handled his brief detention during Friday night's manhunt - do you have a story or note of thanks you'd like to share with the Malden Police?
Curious onlookers were out for hours after a police shoot-out near Cliffside Commons Apartments Friday evening, though some residents got a little closer to the action than they bargained for. Reader Mike Farren said it was a “stupid mistake” to grab his camera and hurry to the scene of the shoot-out - only blocks from his home on Noble St. - but that curiosity got the best of him after hearing the incident unfold on his police scanner. Curiosity about a camera bag-sporting man so close to the scene of a nearby crime struck a patrolling police officer, too. “I think he was just taking a position ...so if any (suspects were) coming up that way, he was right there,” Farren remembered. “Turns out I just happened to be that guy.” The officer …

Huh. I thought we were just talkin' weather, but I guess I was mistaken about your fixation. Sometimes I'm foolishly and naively optimistic like that. Oh well, I'll know better from here on out.   more ›
