A Malden Police sergeant working a detail spotted two people fitting the description given by a homeowner of the two break-in suspects.
Malden Police arrested two Medford residents Friday on breaking and entering charges, after a passerby reported two people acting suspiciously and going door-to-door on Glenwood Street. Officers responded to Glenwood Street around 9:30 a.m. on Friday after the witness reported the suspicious behavior, and while they were there a report of a housebreak in progress was given for a home on Woodland Road, according to a press release provided by Malden Police Captain John Amirault. The homeowner provided police with a detailed description of the suspects, according to the release, and uniformed and plain clothes officers established a perimeter in the area of the home. A building inspector was requested to the home at 52 Hancock St.
A car reportedly crashed into a Hancock Street home on Saturday night, according to scanner reports. The intial report came in at 10:44 p.m., with a request for a building inspector at 52 Hancock St. It was not known at time of initial report of any injuries involved with the accident. At 11:10 a.m., Malden firefighters were clearing from the scene with Malden Police still at the home, near the intersections of Hancock and Acorn Streets and Hancock and Lowell Streets. The initial report was based on public safety transmissions and has not been verified with Malden Police. Check back at Malden Patch for further updates.

One alleged robber created a diversion while another pointed a gun at a store employee and demanded money on Labor Day. The FBI and Malden Police are investigating.
Stop and Shop is offering a monetary award for information leading to charges and arrests related to the armed robbery on Labor Day of the grocery store at 88 Charles St. in Malden. Two men entered the grocery store at approximately 6 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 3, wearing yellow Stop and Shop shirts and baseball caps, with one man creating a diversion, according to an FBI press release issued Thursday. The following letter was submitted to Malden Patch for publication. There are so many wonderful things about living in Malden, Massachusetts. The cultural diversity of our city is, to me, the centerpiece of Malden’s laudable features. The rich tapestry of languages and cultures overlap in all of our public spaces. Our community events are well attended by a mosaic of people from differing social and economic locations, a veritable united nations represented. Our schools, most recently rated some of the best in the country, attract many students. And, oh yes, the escalating gun violence? Tyrell Berberena, Jr., 17 faces charges of armed assault with intent to murder, aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and carrying a loaded firearm without a license. He was held pending a dangerous hearing.
The 17-year-old arrested in connection with Monday's shooting of another 17-year-old near Warren Street was arraigned in Malden District Court on Tuesday morning, according to the Middlesex District Attorney's Office. Tyrell Berberena, Jr., 17 of Malden, was arraigned on charges of armed assault with intent to murder, aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and carrying a loaded firearm without a license, according to a press release from the DA's Office. Malden District Court Judge Dominic Paratore ordered Berberena held pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for this Friday.
