Malden Access Television Seeks Artists For 'Building Bridges'

The station is looking for local artists interested in submitting to the "Building Bridges Through Art" exhibition to be held at Malden Access Television this summer.

Article info, text, and photo provided by curator Susan Burke: We are seeking artists from all cultural backgrounds who have some connection to Malden to explore and express the challenges and benefits of living in a multicultural community through their artwork. This may include celebrations of multiculturalism, issues of stereotypes and racism, or cross-cultural awareness. Building Bridges Through Art, an exhibition exploring Malden's diverse community, will be held at the MATV Gallery this summer. For the exhibition we are seeking artists from diverse cultural backgrounds, as well as those who express cultural diversity through their artwork. Malden Cultural Council Awards Funds To 19 Grant Proposals

The Cultural Council was unable to do more this year because of fiscal challenges the organization faces.

Article and info provided by the Malden Cultural Council: Each year the Malden Cultural Council meets to review grant proposals and to award funds to those that meet the criteria of “promoting excellence, access, education and diversity in the arts, humanities and interpretive sciences in order to improve the quality of life for all Malden residents” in accordance with the Council mission. This year the Malden Cultural Council members were faced with tough decisions as they participated in the grant review process. During the recent public meeting held Saturday morning, November 17th at the Malden Public Library the volunteer members that make up the cultural council were tasked with the challenge of disbursing a total of $18,708.00 funds …
