A smaller number of readers participated in our poll this week, but hiking the Fells came ahead with 50 percent of the vote.
While not our most popular “Best of Readers' Choice” contest, this week we asked residents to name their favorite 'staycation' in Malden – and you delivered. 50 percent of the vote went to “A day hike at the Fells,” a perfect choice for a leisurely day in the city's increasingly spring-like weather. Next week, we'll ask readers the best place to celebrate a graduation. Get your thinking caps ready!

The popular downtown eatery boasts a delicious menu for the coming holiday. Bring Mom!
Our readers have done it again: this week's Reader's Choice award goes to Exchange St. Bistro, named the city's best Mother's Day brunch. The restaurant, which includes a delicious tapas bar, offers a variety of unique - yet tasty - cocktails and other draws for Malden's culinary elite. To check out the restaurant's Mother's Day offerings, check their menu. Owner John Carlino was not immediately available for comment Friday morning. The family business has been in town for 65 years.
We asked readers to name the city's best florist, and you delivered: this week's winner is Martin's Flower Shop on 119 Lebanon St. The family-run business has been in operation for over 65 years. “I buy all of my flowers and plants from them,” Marc Levine wrote on their business listing. “Quality and good prices.” The store's owner was not immediately available for comment Friday. Next week's question will ask readers to name the city's best Mother's Day brunch.

The popular diner on Main St. serves breakfast with a 50s twist.
Malden Patch readers have done it again - according to you, Malden's best breakfast is at the 50s-style DooWop Diner. Menu items include an "I wanna hold your ham and cheese", "the Ed Sullivan" and more. While an owner was not available for comment Friday morning, readers can get ready for next week's Malden Patch's Readers' Choice, when we ask you to name the city's best florist.

The independently-owned skate shop is located right in downtown Malden.
Our readers have done it again – Malden's best place for buying sports goods is at Patriot Skateboards in downtown Malden. The independently-owned skate shop walked away with 82 percent of the vote in a limited pool of sporting goods stores. Everett Square sporting goods came in second with 10 percent of the vote. An owner of the store was not immediately available for comment Friday. Get your taste buds ready – next week's topic is Malden's best place for breakfast.
