Nick Kermelewicz aka The President enjoyed the spoils of winning Patch's Video Battle of the Bands when he and 25 of his friends took a Bustonian party bus tour. That was the first part of his grand prize. The topper will be when he headlines a gig at The Harp in Boston on June 28. The President will appear on the same bill as Battle of the Bands runners up The Truezoos and Forget the Former. The concert kicks off at 8 p.m. and will include 45-minute sets by The Truezoos and Forget the Former before Wakefield's The President finishes the show with a 90-minute set. The winner of Patch's "Battle of the Bands" is recording artist and Wakefield resident Nick Kermelewicz, who is looking to make it big in the local music scene.
"If you don't like the way you're living, you can change that," raps Wakefield resident Nick Kermelewicz, known in the Boston music scene as The President. And he means it. A self-made musician, Kermelewicz, 21, is the winner of Patch's "Battle of the Bands," contest, the month-long competition that pitted local acts against one another and looked to the community to pick the top act. But Kermelewicz, who grew up north of Boston in Chelsea, MA, is no stranger to success. He has already started his own production company called Jotdown Entertainment, and is now looking to make it as a recording artist. "I’ve just built myself up from my mom’s basement," he said. The President featuring L.E.S White was the top vote-getter in the final round of the Battle of The Bands beating The Truezoos, Forget the Former, Scotty and the Gang, BlackLight SunRise and DCLA (Dukes County Love Affair). Twenty-four submissions are now down to six finalists competing to take the top prize in Patch's Video Battle of the Bands. Six bands and individuals, ranging the gamut from rock to rap, square off to see who will win the grand prize, which includes headlining a show at the Harp in Boston in June. The top two vote getters from each regional competition who are now in the finals are: The President featuring L.E.S White and Scotty and the Gang from the Greater Boston regional round. Forget the Former and The Truezoos from the North Shore/Merrimack Valley regional round. The regional round of Patch's Video Battle of the Bands contest has ended, and we have our winners, with two bands moving on to the final round with a chance to win a rockstar prize pack! Winning first place is The President featuring L.E.S White -- "You Can Change That," with band member Nicholas Kermelewicz of Wakefield. The President wins two hours of recording time at Oak Grove Recording in Malden. Coming in second place is Scotty and the Gang -- "Free," with band members Dan Kendricksen, Matt Tagan, Eliot Carduff and Scott Clark, all of Melrose. Patch Video Battle of the Bands 2012 is here! More than 20 bands from across Eastern Massachusetts submitted videos of original songs over the past two weeks to multiple area Patch sites in hopes of taking home the top prize. First off is a regional round in which we pit bands and musicians from Greater Boston against one another. They will square off to win bragging rights in the area, a cool prize and a chance to go to the final round and win a rockstar prize pack! The field for the Greater Boston round is strong with musical tastes ranging from rock to rock to pop to rap. Voting for the regional round will run until noon on Friday, May 4. A Malden band may soon gets its first big break! Patch is holding a Video Battle of the Bands contest in which local bands will square off for musical supremacy. The Patch Video Battle of the Bands is the chance of a lifetime for local musicians. This is a chance for you and your bandmates to show off your abilities as musicians and earn some terrific prizes. Local bands should get ready to upload videos for April 9.
Patch will start collecting entries for our Video Battle of the Bands contest on April 9. The contest will pit bands from nearly three dozens communities in Greater Boston, the North Shore, Merrimack Valley, South Shore, Cape Cod and the Islands. The contest will work this way: We’ll ask local bands to upload a video of themselves performing an original song starting on Monday, April 9. We’ll collect entries over two weeks. On Monday, April 23, we’ll kick off a regional competition across Eastern Massachusetts. Voters will be able to comment and tell us their favorites.
