Witness Tips Lead to Two Arrests on Home Break-In Charges

A Malden Police sergeant working a detail spotted two people fitting the description given by a homeowner of the two break-in suspects.

Malden Police arrested two Medford residents Friday on breaking and entering charges, after a passerby reported two people acting suspiciously and going door-to-door on Glenwood Street. Officers responded to Glenwood Street around 9:30 a.m. on Friday after the witness reported the suspicious behavior, and while they were there a report of a housebreak in progress was given for a home on Woodland Road, according to a press release provided by Malden Police Captain John Amirault. The homeowner provided police with a detailed description of the suspects, according to the release, and uniformed and plain clothes officers established a perimeter in the area of the home. DA: Teen Shooting Suspect Arranged to Meet With Victim

Tyrell Berberena, Jr., 17 of Malden, faces charges of armed assault to murder and possession of a large capacity firearm.

The 17-year-old arrested in connection with Monday's shooting of another 17-year-old near Warren Street allegedly knew the victim and had arranged to meet when the shooting happened, according to the Middlesex District Attorney's Office. Malden Police arrested Tyrell Berberena, Jr., after the shooting, according to a press release from the DA's Office. He faces charges of armed assault to murder and possession of a large capacity firearm and will be arraigned Tuesday morning in Malden District Court. At 10:31 a.m. on Monday, Malden Police responded to reports of a shooting at the intersection of Warren Street and Eastern Avenue, according to the DA's press release. Malden Police Release Name of Alleged Flasher

Police arrested the Malden resident, who faces two charges of open and gross lewdness.

Malden Police have identified a man who allegedly exposed himself to women at Fellsmere Park last Friday. Hone Hui Lei, 71, of 557 Pleasant St., was allegedly seen exposing himself on a bench on W. Border Road. Malden Police Capt. Thomas Swanson said he was arrested and charged with two counts of open and gross lewdness.

Chris, I agree the numbers for homicides and violent crimes may be down. We do not live in the Bronx or East LA where the homicides number in the hundreds, thankfully.
