On Election Night Patrick, Coakley and Clark win; Spadafora concedes
Close vote on Question 1 (repeal of sales tax on alcoholic beverages)
With a 50 percent voter turnout in Malden (14,770 voters in total), several candidates won convincingly, including Gov. Deval Patrick, Attorney General Martha Coakley, and State Senate candidate Katherine Clark. Patrick received 52 percent of the total Malden gubernatorial vote, compared to 36 percent for his top challenger, Republican Charlie Baker. Independent candidate Tim Cahill received 8 percent of the vote and Green-Rainbow candidate Jill Stein received a little over 1 percent of the vote. In the race for State Senate, Katherine Clark (D-Melrose) defeated Craig Spadafora (R-Malden), 53 percent to 42 percent in local voting.
