This is an oldMore fashioned kind of place, with just a tackle box of tools and some needle and thread within reach of the very capable tailor. You may want to call ahead as the shop is frequently closed during their "open" hours. Also be aware that parking can be a challenge.

Twenty years ago, Carol M. Wishoski, current director of the Rockland Montessori School, purchased the formerMore Rockland Nursery School. This educational establishment was founded 65 years ago. The Rockland Montessori Schools mission statement is "Children are our most precious gifts in life. Our objective at the Rockland is to make a child's first schooling experience a positive one by providing a nurturing and supportive environment in which a child can grow and develop socially, academically, cognitively, and emotionally."

Through strong support, love, attention and understanding the young children who attend the Rockland develop a foundation that will be with them for the rest of their lives. These children are taught through observation, challenging curriculums, fun learning experiences, socialization and more.  The faculty at Rockland believe that there is a relationship between the "physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual aspects of an individual's makeup." With proper nuturing the student will become self- and environmentally-aware.

The Rockland Montessori School offers both pre-school and kindergarten programming. The school is housed in a seven room colonial and includes a kitchen and fenced in play-yard.

Beebe School

The Beebe Elementary School has a kindergarten through eighth grade curriculum. This school has a special focus andMore adheres to its motto, "Building a Healthy Environment Child by Child." It  accomplishes this by creating "a community of environmentally aware learners and future citizens who have respect for themselves, and for the environment and community in which they live."  By working in partnership with its surrounding community students are able to study local environmental and health issues within an integrated, hands-on unit of study. 

This specialized educational curriculum is evident by the butterfly garden that is adjacent to the school. The faculty utilizes all-natural environments in the community as an outdoor classroom. It is not uncommon to find a group of students at Fellsmore Park.  There are often guest speakers and lessons from Zoo New England, the Center for Environmental Education at Antioch New England,  and the YMCA Earth Service Corps.
