Rex Trailer, a Boston TV icon who had been recovering from pneumonia recently, has died. Trailer hosted “Boomtown,” a children’s show with a Western theme on WBZ-TV from 1956-1974. How did a Western cowboy make his mark in Boston? According to Wikipedia, his corporate overlords gave him a choice of Cleveland or Boston. But he's remembered for more than his cowboy get-up. The Boston Globe wrote in an editorial last year: Kids adored Trailer’s rodeo tricks. But mostly they adored him for his consistent kindness and competence. Trailer was 84. Mildred Chapman Webster, 89, died on December 9, 2012 at the Pavilion in Hyannis after a long illness. Millie was born in Malden, Massachusetts on February 11, 1923, the daughter of Mary K. Culleton and Vine Stoddard Chapman. Millie graduated from Malden High School in 1941. During the Second World War she enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a WAVE. In 1945 she married a Marine aviator and her son was born at the Chelsea Navy Hospital. After the war she attended Fisher Junior College. She was a secretary for many years at the General Electric offices in Boston, to the admissions director of the Mount Hermon School, to the head of the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School in Concord, to the head of the Winsor School in Boston, …

(Editor's note: The following information was submitted by members of the Duffy family.) Brendan L. Duffy passed away on September 5, 2012. He was 74 years old. Brendan grew up in South Boston and graduated from English High School. He was a longtime resident of Malden and lived in Tewksbury for the past 8 years. Brendan was married to Elaine (Sabadini) Duffy, his loving wife for 52 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Cold War and served in Germany in the 82nd Airborne Division. Brendan worked at Malden High School for 35 years, initially as a teacher of English and eventually as a Class Master/ Assistant Principal. Joe was born in Malden, where he was raised and educated. It is also where he met his future wife Hilda at the age of 12. Joe and Hilda were married in January of 1944 in Malden. They first lived together in Malden before moving to Saugus over 50 years ago. They shared over 68 years together and only 12 days apart with Hilda’s passing 12 days ago. Dianne (Morretti) Dingolo, of Saugus, the retired Principal of the Cheverus School in Malden, died Saturday morning at Lighthouse Nursing Care Center, Revere. She was 68. Born and raised in Lynn, Dianne spent most of her life as an educator. After high school, she entered the Sisters of the Cross and Passion in Wakefield, RI where she taught both there and in Connecticut. She earned her Master’s Degree at U. Mass, Amherst. After leaving religious life, Dianne continued to teach and was a teacher at Cheverus School until being appointed Principal in 1988. She served until 1998.
