Meet Sapphire, This Week's Pet of the Week!

A year-and-a-half old mix-breed dog resembling a pit bull.

Meet Sapphire!

She is a year-and-a-half old mix that looks like a pit bull. She was brought to the shelter because the owner was not allowed to have her in the home in which he was living. She is full-grown, at around 50 pounds. At this age, she is still very much a puppy, and will need a new home where the family has the time and energy to train and exercise her.

Sapphire goes out to playgroup with other young, energetic dogs.  She is working on basic obedience training and does well if there are minimal distractions. She is still working on learning to focus around other dogs and distractions like squirrels!

She often goes out running with an ARLB staff member, and she has been described as PERFECT on runs! She stays right with you, doesn't pull and keeps up a good pace. We certainly see a difference in her behavior when she has gone running and had enough exercise. Sapphire is not a 'couch potato' dog!

Sapphire is looking for a home without cats and without young children - due to her jumpy behavior.

If you are looking for an active dog, then please come down to the shelter and ask to meet Sapphire!

NOTE: The Animal Rescue League of Boston has been chosen to host a play fetch date with David ‘Big Papi’ Ortiz and a handful of our shelter puppies! The date has been set for November 15th from 2:00-3:00pm. Visit our website at www.arlboston.org for more details!”
