Malden public schools will close on Thursday and Friday in anticipation of the late-week storm heading to the area.

On Wednesday afternoon, School Superintendent Dave DeRousi made a recorded call to Malden residents using the city's Code Red system alerting them of the impending closure.

Storm forecasts have grown more severe over the last 24 hours. As of Wednesday afternoon, the National Weather Service is predicting 10-14 inches for the Malden area.

Oh boy ! The parents are going to love this. The kids have been home for over a week now and now 2 more days. When I went to school we walked in mile high snow. Not many days off because of snow.

David I lived in the Linden Highlands and we all walked up the steep part of Central Ave down and up neck high drifts. Me and the Howlett brothers,O'leary's. By the time we arrived at the school "The Old Linden School" our boots were packed solid with snow.
