  Transition Workshops sponsored by E-Marc and the Malden Special Education Department:


EMARC Family Resource Center presents two workshops for families with special needs of young adults, ages 14-21.  These workshoops are presented by Pat Pakos, Transition Specialist for the ARC of Massachusetts and a Parent Panel. Advanced Registration is required.


Light refreshments will be provided.


 Tuesday, October 23, 2012: “The Parent and Student’s Role in Transition”


 The Transition process begins at age 14.  How do you make the most of the time your child has left in school, and give them best possible start in the “real world”?  This workshop will focus on post-secondary goals and objectives, self-determination, self-advocacy, self-directed IEP’s and the importance of partnerships with school systems and human service agencies.Light refreshments will be provided.


   Tuesday, November 13, 2012: “What Happens When the School Bus Stops Coming” 


 This workshop focuses on employment, adult recreational activities, friendships, waivers, community connections and services offered to adults.  Meet a panel of 3 parents whose children have recently transitioned into the adult world!


 $5 per workshop…scholarships are available!


Malden residents will be able to attend at no cost, thanks to a grant from Wal-Mart. *Pre-registration is required – contact us for details.
