“The volunteers who serve on the scholarship committee and I all agree that a comedy night is appropriate and fitting way to raise money for a scholarship award since Dianne is remembered not only for her dedication as an educator but also someone who never missed an opportunity to laugh and show joy,” said Cheverus Principal Susan Degnan, who knew Dianne as a friend and colleague.

In June, a scholarship was awarded to Kameryn Montimes, now a 5th grade student at Cheverus School, who wrote in her scholarship application, “I am happy to serve others, for serving others is helping someone do what they can’t do for themselves without expecting anything in return.”  She was awarded the scholarship by Dianne Dingolo’s nephew Heath Gunderman, who served on the volunteer committee along with former students, teachers, administrators and supporters of the school.

Dianne Dingolo spent most of her life as an educator, first with the Sisters of the Cross and Passion and later, after she left religious life, at Emmanuel College in Boston, Pope John High XXIII School in Everett and as a teacher and principal at the Cheverus School from which she retired in 1998. She was the wife of Robert Dingolo and passed away at age 68 on January 21, 2012. She was much beloved for her compassion, commitment to justice, community service and her endearing giggle.
