MAYOR: 'Pay As You Throw' Announcement Today

Mayor Gary Christenson's office will hold a media round-table detailing the PAYT committee's findings.

The Mayor’s Advisory Committee on Pay-As-You-Throw (PAYT) and Waste Removal will reveal the findings of their study during a media round-table Tuesday, according to a press release circulated by city hall.

The event is not open to the general public, but is expected to provide on-the-record details to local media about possible reforms to the program.

During the campaign, Christenson promised to "work to include in the city's next recycling and waste management contract: moving to a single stream system, providing residents with larger, covered recycling containers and modifying trash pickup so that no PAYT bag is required until after the first 33-gallon barrel is filled," according to campaign literature, though the committee reportedly explored a number of options while drafting their report.
