Mayor Gary Christenson is looking to fill three vacancies on the Malden Cultural Council, according to a city press statement.

The council works to encourage and promote the artistic development of the arts in Malden through grant program funding, according to the statement. 

The State of Massachusetts through the Massachusetts Cultural Council allocates grant money to Malden annually in support of the fine arts, performing art programs, exhibits, festivals and other like events throughout the community, the statement adds.

The council reviews local grant applications and awards grants to select proposals, as funding permits, according to the statement.

The council consists of 11 members, appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the City Council, as each appointee serves a term of three years and may not serve more than two consecutive terms, according to the statement. The council quarterly in the Maccario Room at Malden Public Library on the third Saturday of the month at 10 a.m.
