Malden’s Christopher Acres Jr. Heads Off to Basic Training

The city recently recognized his upcoming service.

Malden’s Christopher Acres Jr. is about to depart to Fort Leonard in Waynesville, Mo., for 19 weeks of U.S. Army Military Basic Training, according to the city.

The 19 weeks includes nine weeks of Advanced Individual Military Police Training.

Acres, a lifelong resident of Ward 5, was recently recognized by Malden Mayor Gary Christenson, City Councillor Barbara Murphy and Veterans Services Director Kevin Jarvis.

Acres said he wanted to follow in the tradition of his family members who have served their country in the U.S. Army.
