Malden Mayor Welcomes New Senior Center Director

Mayor Gary Christenson recently welcomed Malden’s new Senior Center Director, Silvia Banos, and introduced her to members of Mass Senior Action Council (MSAC), staff and friends of the Senior Center. Silvia was offered the position after an interview process by a panel of five, which included two representatives of MSAC.  

Silvia comes to the Senior Center with 21 years of program planning and management experience. Her past professional work includes developing programs and policy initiatives that positively impact communities in Massachusetts. She has coordinated, organized and implemented programs for Boston University School of Medicine, Massachusetts General Hospital, the Boston Public Health Commission and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. She has also been involved with public advocacy projects, clinical research studies, and has facilitated healthy lifestyle initiatives. An experienced grant writer and fundraiser, Silvia is also bilingual in English and Spanish.
