Capital Improvement Plan Sent to City Council

Mayor Gary Christenson sent a three year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) to the City Council last week.

The CIP accounts for costs that are one-time in nature and are paid back over a long term which in most cases is 20 years. Extensive restorations to streets and sidewalks will be funded in the CIP as well as improvements to parks. A priority of the CIP focuses on upgrades to public safety equipment for our Police and Fire Departments. Other examples include replacement of vehicles as well as plows/sanders and equipment used in the Departments of Public Works and Water Utilities.

In addition, the Mayor has recommended that proceeds from the sale of the Emerson School ($1.3 Million) be used to fund improvements to Malden Public Schools.
