Zakim Bridge Safe After Crash, Officials Say

Malden taxi driver died in fiery Monday morning crash.

State engineers say the Zakim Bridge is safe and open to all traffic today after a cab driver was killed in a fiery collision with a tractor-trailer early yesterday morning.

Malden Taxi driver Debra Sarno, 54, of Chelsea was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash shortly before 6 a.m. on Interstate 93 northbound. State police are investigating why Sarno’s cab stopped in the right travel lane before it was hit from behind by the tractor-trailer.
