VIDEO: Armed, Masked Robbery at Dunkin' Donuts

Help police identify a man they say stole an disclosed amount of money from an Eastern Ave. Dunkin' Donuts at knifepoint on New Year's Eve.

Police are asking for the public's help in finding a man that robbed an Eastern Ave. Dunkin' Donuts at knifepoint New Year's Eve.

The suspect, visible in surveillance footage provided by the department, was dressed in a black hoodie, gloves and mask. After ordering, the suspect paid for his drink and produced a knife when an employee opened the cash register.

He then calmly left the store, avoiding other customers.

Police also released a second surveillance video this week, seeking a female suspect they believe stole a UPS package from a home in Malden.

Anyone with information about either case is encouraged to call the Malden Police Department Detective Unit at 781-397-7181.

Hmm. From the video it looks like he didn't get any money, he got spooked when other customers came in. Did he end up stealing money or not?

Every store should have a sign similar to those seen at the bank: "Please remove your hat / hood and sunglasses before approaching the counter." And I would add: "... or you will get your arse kicked."

I thought it looked the same way but the YouTube account (@MaldenPD) refers to him "robbing" the store, so that's what I went with. Maybe it's subtle?

Just on Fox news a few days ago they showed a woman taking a large package of someone's porch. So much for gettin deliveries. They should move the cam in that picture to directly in front of the steps. All you see is the ladies back side.

does it matter if he got away with money, it was still an attempted armed robbery, the key term being armed...just sayin'

He didn't get a thing in fact he paid and didnt even get his coffee....what a clown! He was so fidgity and when he saw those two enter he stood his ground but then when a third person came in he left....that cost him money lol.....weazles like this need a beating....with the recent gun debates my license to carry I take pride in having would have been handy.....better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.....Happy New Year Malden good luck this year....I'll be enjoying the small town I moved to where the biggest crime reported last year was a traffic stop
jirkyrick January 09, 2013 at 06:11 PM
and if you shot this guy, how do you think that would have ended up for you... just sayin
jirkyrick January 09, 2013 at 06:13 PM
or even worse, if you missed and shot someone else by accident.... most people are lousy shots, its s totally different thing to shoot at a moving live person than a target at the shooting range, even for someone that is trained and in law enforcement

You don't have to shoot him, a crack between the eyes with a baseball bat should do it. Of course you'd get fired for it.

See Mr. Mokal...I was right about the bagel & coffee theory. I bet when he got home, and enjoyed those goodies, he felt better about himself. :>)
paul surette January 09, 2013 at 07:16 PM
SO what are you trying to say, Rick?
jirkyrick January 09, 2013 at 08:26 PM
if yo give a man a bagel, he has breakfast for a day, give him a weapon in Malden, he eats for life
paul surette January 09, 2013 at 08:40 PM
That was actually funny, Ricky

Wasn't the fact the guy's face was all covered up a clue to the worker something was not going to end well here? I realize it's easy to sit here and be a Monday morning QB and I thankfully have not been in that spot yet so don't know what I would do. There should be some way for these workers to alert someone when they realize they may be about to be robbed.

Though I agree with you Annie, let me present the "holy crap is this really the world we live in" argument -- that would never fly by the lawyers because the first person that walks in with a full-on burqa who gets an alert called on them .... well, we'll be calling it Dunkin' Burqas after that.
mg January 09, 2013 at 10:38 PM
Does it matter? No, I'm just curious.
