Stop and Shop Robbed at Gunpoint

Two males made off with cash during a Monday morning heist.

Police are seeking two men in connection with an armed robbery at the Stop and Shop on Charles St. this holiday weekend.

Two males entered the store around 6:30 a.m. Monday morning, with one man creating a diversion while a second man approached the customer service desk, brandishing a gun.

The men fled toward the Malden Center T in a grey vehicle.

"This was a well thought out plan," Lt. Det. Marc Gatcomb said. "We feel it wasn't an off-the-cuff type of incident...but at the same time, we've recovered some recent evidence that was left behind and continue to press on investigating."

That evidence includes a great deal of surveillance footage from both the supermarket and other surrounding businesses, he said.

Gatcomb "couldn't confirm nor deny" an amount of money rumored to be stolen from the store.

The gunman was described as a male in his early 20s, either light-skinned black or latino, black hat, yellow shirt and a thin moustache.

Anyone with more information should call the Malden Police Detective's Unit at 781-397-7181.
