Man Made Threat Toward Malden District Court, Cops Say

Authorities on Monday arrested a Stoneham man and charged him with making a threat toward Malden District Court.

Mark Muldowney, 50, was charged with criminal threatening.

State Police said they launched an investigation after an MBTA passenger found a note left behind in a train car that included a threat directed at Malden District Court. The note specified a date—Mon., July 14. Authorities beefed up security at the court that day.

Police said they linked the note to Muldowney, who had a court appearance Monday for an unrelated matter. As he walked out of court, he was confronted by officers, who found a drawing in his car that resembled the one found on the train, State Police said.

Police said they were withholding the exact nature of the threat.
