Police recently released surveillance videos of a man suspected in two robberies in Malden.

The man allegedly robbed the Linden Convenience Plus store, 187 Beach St., around 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, according to police. The second robbery allegedly occurred around 8:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11 at the In & Out Convenience Store, located at 463 Lebanon St., police added.

During both robberies, the suspect brandished "a small buck-type knife" before stealing cash, according to Det. Lt. Marc Gatcomb in an email to Malden Patch Monday night. Gatcomb declined to comment on the amount of cash stolen during each robbery.

"We have been in contact with area departments, which is protocol, (as we are) still investigating and 'comparing notes,'" Gatcomb said in the email.

In the email, Gatcomb said the suspect is believed to be a white man in his early 20s that is around six feet tall. He added that the suspect was wearing an "unique grey sweat jacket/hoodie with a pocket on each (side)."

Police are uncertain if the suspect had a vehicle parked nearby, or if he fled on foot following the robberies.
