A Peabody woman is accused of stealing more than $30,000 from Mystic Valley Regional Charter School's Parent-Teacher Organization accounts.

A Peabody woman is accused of stealing more than $30,000 from Mystic Valley Regional Charter School's Parent-Teacher Organization accounts, the office of Middlesex District Attorney Marian T. Ryan told the Boston Globe in a recent report.

Ami Wood, 41, a former Maldonian and current Peabody resident, became the PTO's treasurer in 2009, the district attorney's office told the Globe. Wood allegedly wrote checks from the PTO accounts to herself and her husband to pay personal expenses and bills, Ryan's spokesman Stephanie Guyotte told the newspaper.

Wood is facing three counts of larceny over $250 and falsifying or omitting entries in the PTO's record books, according to the report.

Wood, who was arraigned Aug. 13 in Middlesex Superior Court and released on personal recognizance, will reappear in court on Oct. 11 for a status hearing, according to the report.
