There was a multiple vehicle accident Thursday afternoon on Salem Street in Malden, according to police.

At around 3:14 p.m., emergency crews responded to Salem Street near Pierce Street for a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a bus and at least two other vehicles, according to Police Chief Kevin Molis.

"While traveling westbound on Salem Street, there was a small yellow school bus which is approaching the intersection and there were some vehicles stopped at the light, and the school bus apparently rear-ends one (of) the vehicles which causes a little bit of a chain reaction on that car and it goes into another car," Molis said. He noted that the bus was not a MBTA bus, but he did not have the bus company's name immediately available as the accident report is still being generated.

"Some people went to the hospital but no serious injuries were reported at the scene," Molis said.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, according to Molis.
