Man's Life Saved After Crashing Car into Pool (PHOTOS)

Malden homeowner Tom Cheffro saved the elderly man who crashed his vehicle into his backyard's in-ground pool.

An elderly driver was saved by a quick-thinking homeowner Tuesday, after he pulled the man from a car he crashed into a backyard pool on Grant Road.

Malden resident Tom Cheffro said he heard a loud noise in his backyard while watching television.

"I just heard a noise, ran outside and said 'what the hell?'" he said.

Cheffro went into the water and pulled the man to safety.

The victim was conscious and speaking with paramedics as they led him to an ambulence on a stretcher.

He has not been identified by authorities, though WHDH reports he is in his 80s and in good condition.

Despite the damage to his home, Cheffro seemed in good spirits.

"The interesting thing will be to see how they get this out of my pool," Cheffro joked.

And on September 4th 2012, at least two people's errands went undone.

Yikes! I know families that live over there with kids riding bikes and running around playing. Thank God (and Mr Cheffro) everyone is safe.

I agree & thank god no one was hurt & the home owner did a great job by rescuing the man out of the pool rather than waiting for other help. The home owner seems to be a great person by focussing on saving the man rather than looking at the damage that was done.
