Man Arrested for Third OUI After Allegedly Fleeing Accident

A Malden man was arrested after police said he failed a field sobriety test at the scene of an accident near 268 Broadway early last week.

Juan Valladares was found parked on the sidewalk by a responding officer around 1:40 a.m. Sunday, July 21.

As he interrogated Valladares, Off. James Crowley heard another report over his radio about a hit-and-run car accident in the area. The victim in that call later identifies Valladares as the driver of the fleeing vehicle.

Valladares, who had two prior convictions for operating under the influence, was arrested for alleged third offense operation under the influence and for leaving the scene of an accident.
