Malden Swears in New Police Officers

The city recently held a swearing in ceremony for several new Malden police officers.

The city recently held a swearing in ceremony for six new Malden police officers at the City Council Chambers, according to a city press statement.

Mayor Gary Christenson, City Council President Neal Anderson and Police Chief Kevin Molis welcomed the officers during a swearing in ceremony at City Hall on Aug. 26, according to the statement.

During the ceremony, Officer Adam Siegel was pinned by his mother, Susan Siegel; Officer Katelyn Murphy was pinned by her father, James Murphy; Officer Adam Maher was pinned by his mother, Sharon Maher; Officer Richard Doherty was pinned by his wife, Hong Doherty; Officer Stephen Bellavia was pinned by his father, Stephen Bellavia Sr.; and, Officer Pat Manolian was pinned by his wife, Renee Manolian, according to the statement.

The officers are recent graduates of Plymouth Police Academy, the statement adds.

“I’m pleased to welcome our new officers to the Department,” said Mayor Gary Christenson in the statement. “Hiring additional police officers to ensure the safety of our city has been a top priority. I am grateful to the City Council for their support in these hires.”
