Malden Police Cadet To Be Recognized for Life-Saving Effort

Cadet David Yung will receive an award from the State 911 Department.

A Malden Police cadet will be recognized next week for his life-saving efforts last November.

Cadet David Yung will receive an award Wednesday, April 23, from the State 911 Department at the state agency’s annual awards, according to a Malden Police Facebook post.

On Nov. 12, 2013, Yung answered a call from a concerned party regarding a friend’s suicidal Facebook posts. The friend had stopped answering his or her cell phone, the party said.

Through Yung’s work, the friend was located a short time later in Dover suffering from an ingestion of prescription medication and alcohol. If the friend hadn’t been located so soon, he or she may have died, police said.

Great job Dave. There should be more like you. You will become a PO in the future.
