Cadet David Yung will receive an award from the State 911 Department.

A Malden Police cadet will be recognized next week for his life-saving efforts last November.

Cadet David Yung will receive an award Wednesday, April 23, from the State 911 Department at the state agency’s annual awards, according to a Malden Police Facebook post.

On Nov. 12, 2013, Yung answered a call from a concerned party regarding a friend’s suicidal Facebook posts. The friend had stopped answering his or her cell phone, the party said.
