Malden Teen Missing for Nearly A Week

Friends and family are urging residents to keep their eyes open for Brittany Geer, 17, who was last seen leaving Malden High School on Wednesday, Feb. 6.

Friends and family are keeping hopes high for the safe return of a Malden High School student now missing for nearly a week.

Brittany Geer, 17, who lives with her father in Malden, was reportedly last seen leaving the school on Wednesday, Feb. 6.

Geer's mother, Lois Cummisky of Marlborough, described her as an "outgoing kid" that would "talk to anybody."

She acknowledged Geer had run away from home a few days before this disappearance, but notes she quickly returned under 24 hours.

"She just suddenly disappeared," Cummisky said. "There was no big fight."

Friends & family respond

As Geer was previously reported as a teenage runaway, State Police will not issue an AMBER Alert for her disappearance - a source of much frustration for Cummisky.

But the hurdle hasn't stopped her from conducting her own detective work, posting "missing" posters across the city and contacting Geer's friends for help.

The flyers have also been rapidly disseminated over social media, with students forming a popular #HelpFindBrittany hashtag and repeatedly retweeting her picture.

Two teens?

Cumminsky and a number of classmates referred to a second female student who may be accompanying Geer, though this info was not immediately confirmable late Monday night.

Cummisky said she believed the two girls were together. Geer's Twitter account refers to the two of them listening to music Feb. 7, the day after she was last seen.

Both girls' Twitter accounts have gone silent since that date.

Anyone with information about Geer is encouraged to call Cummisky at (508) 933-4776, or "Brian" at (781) 322-0113, or the Malden PD at (781) 322-1212.
