Level 3 Sex Offender Misses Last Train at Oak Grove, Gets Arrested

The man had several warrants out for his arrest, authorities said.

A Level 3 sex offender missed the last train from Malden’s Oak Grove Station early Wednesday morning and then was arrested on several outstanding warrants, authorities said.

MBTA Transit Police responded to the station at about 1:30 a.m. for a report of a man threatening an MBTA employee and refusing to leave the station.

Officers located the man, 54-year-old Jeffrey Harrell, of Dorchester, at the scene. Harrell, a Level 3 sex offender, was then arrested on several warrants.

He was wanted out of South Boston District Court for open and gross lewdness, Dorchester District Court for failure to register as a sex offender, Roxbury District Court for defrauding an innkeeper and destruction of property and Boston Municipal Court for shoplifting, according to authorities.

The Level 3 sex offender designation is reserved for the most severe offenders. Level 3 sex offenders pose a "high risk" to reoffend, according to the state.
