Officials ID Man Shot and Killed on Main St. as Skate Shop Owner

Shawn Clark, 39, of Saugus and owner of Patriot Skateboards in Malden, has been ID'd as the victim in today's shooting by the Middlesex District Attorney's office.

UPDATE 6:40pm: Mayor Gary Christenson has issued a statement about the shooting: 

“My heartfelt sympathies are with the family of the victim.

State and local police along with the Middlesex District Attorney’s office are working diligently to investigate the circumstances. We are going to continue to provide our Police Department with the resources they need to address criminal activity.

Original story: A man has reportedly died after sustaining multiple gun shot wounds during an apparent robbery near 800 Main St. just after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

A witness, who asked not to be named, reported hearing "multiple shots fired," and saw a victim with several gunshot wounds in his stomach lying on the southbound lane of Main St. 

"It looked like he had at least four gun shots to the abdomen," he said. "He was not talking, eyes were closed, not sure if actually unconscious, but breathing was extremely shallow as he was loaded onto the ambulence." 

"Malden Police responding to shots fired near the 800 block of Main St.," The City of Malden's Twitter feed read. "Please stay clear of the area. More info as we get it."

Twitter photos show clothes strewn around the crime scene.

While no official information was available from police, a bulletin from the Breaking News Network service indicated the victim suffered "multiple gunshot wounds" and was in traumatic arrest en route to Melrose-Wakefield Memorial Hospital. 

Police continue to investigate the scene. No official information was yet available.
