Obituary: Patricia Shuman, Longtime Malden Resident

Shuman died Sunday, April 27.

Patricia A. (O’Neil) Shuman, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2014, at the Kindred Hospital in Peabody.

Pat was born in Boston in 1953, the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Zodiaco) O'Neil, and at and early age she moved to Malden where she was raised and educated.  She graduated from Malden High School with the Class of 1971. A year later, in June of 1972, she married her sweetheart, Bruce R. Shuman, in St. Josephs Church in Malden. The two shared over 40 year together in Malden.

Pat had worked in banking for many years, first at Bank of Boston where she was an operations manager for 25 years, then another five years at Salem Five Bank in the same position. She left banking to pursue a career as a real estate agent. She was a real estate agent at Century 21 North Shore for the last 20 years.

She was an active donor to the United Way for many years. She enjoyed traveling and always would do anything she could to help others. For Pat, her family always came first, the joys of her life were her grandchildren, and she especially enjoyed spending time with the granddaughter, Peyton.

She is survived by her husband Bruce R. Shuman of Malden, her daughter Christine M. Shuman-Caudill and her husband Kenneth of Malden, her uncle Joseph Zodiaco, her aunts Conchette Zodiaco of Andover and Frances Zona of Malden, her grandchildren Peyton and Andrew, her niece Lisa Remsburger and her husband Vince of North Carolina, her great nieces Audrey and Davis and her close friends and partners, Franklin and Lorraine Mohammed of Melrose.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mary (Zodiaco) O'Neil and her brother Thomas E. O'Neil.

Funeral services will be held from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden, on Friday, May 2, at 9 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial in Sacred Hearts Church, Malden, at 10 a.m. Interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 1, from 4-8 p.m.
