Joseph M. Gavin, of Malden, died Tuesday, March 25.

Devoted husband of 52 years to Jean H. (Fielding). Beloved father of Elaine Schepici and her husband Joseph of Billerica, Patricia Hardy and her husband Dale of Everett and Doreen Jones and her husband William of Danvers. Brother of Martin Gavin of Saugus, James Gavin of Saugus, Julie Roughneen of Lakeville, Paul Gavin of West Virginia, Edward Gavin of South Carolina, Margie Schultz of Indiana, Kathleen Carbin of Missouri, Ann Gavin of Wellesley and the late Bridget Lally and Jack Gavin. Cherished grandfather of Kristin Schepici-Woods, Jaime Lyn Critch and Eric Joseph Surette. Also lovingly survived by his great grandchildren Faith Marie Surette, Eric Joseph Surette, Jr. and Kyle Joseph Critch, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a funeral from the Carroll Funeral Home, 721 Salem St., Maplewood Square, MALDEN, on Saturday, March 29, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebarted in St. Joseph's Church, 770 Salem St., Malden, at 10. Visiting Hours in the Carroll Funeral Home on Friday from 4-8 p.m. Services will conclude with interment at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park.

Expressions of sympathy in Joseph's name may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.

Born in Sagus and a resident of Malden since his marriage of Jean 52 years ago, Joesph passed away at Massachusetts General Hospital early Tuesday after a brief illness at the age of 75.

Late U.S. Air Force veteran and 42-year employee of the Raytheon Co., he was a member of the East Side AA and the Malden Moose.
