Obituary: Jack Roberts

Roberts was a Malden native.

Jack Roberts, 62, who served as producer for Dick Cavett's and Oliver North's national radio shows and most recently executive producer for L.A.-based Cable Radio Network (CRN), died Friday, March 7, in a local Los Angeles hospital after a long illness.

He also created and wrote the popular broadcast and music news blog "Hollywood Hills Group" at www.hollywoodhillsgroup.com, which had an estimated 10,000 daily readers since its inception in 2011. His blog was very popular with radio/TV execs from L.A. to N.Y. and numerous record label presidents, personal managers, film and TV celebrities, recording artists and many, many others.

For more than 35 years, Roberts worked with some of the top celebrity broadcasters and air talent in major markets ranging from Los Angeles to New York and Boston. He also was in charge of production for The Jerry Williams Show and The Doug Stephen Show, also nationally syndicated radio shows. His experience ranges from On Air Personality, Program Director, Executive Producer, Promotions Director and General Manager at varied stations including: WRKO, WMEX, WXKS, WMRE (Boston), WWRC (Washington D.C.).

Roberts was named producer of “The Robert Conrad," "George Putman" and "Elmer Dills” radio shows at CRN as well. In addition to his work in major radio markets nationwide for CRN, Roberts booked and produced interviews and feature radio stories, arranging national interviews and formulating promotions and events, including working for and directly with such talents as Tony Bennett, Chris Matthews, Diana Krall, Chef Paul Prudhomme, Ed McMahon, Tom Bergeron, Todd English, Bill Kurtis, Chubby Checker, Gary Owens, Wink Martindale, Rona Barrett, Stephen J. Cannell, Mike Connors, Peter Graves, Dave Koz, Tony Orlando, Oak Ridge Boys, Lee Greenwood, Mickey Gilley, May Lu Henner, Donald Trump, Piers Morgan, John Dean, Barry Goldwater Jr., Uri Geller, Art Linkletter, David Carradine, Brian Williams, Gene Burns, Peter Mondavi, Jerry Heller, Pat Boone, Robert Conrad, Connie Stevens, Stella Stevens, Emeril LaGasse, Ed Begley Jr., Wolfgang Puck, James Darren, Frank Stallone, Sally Kellerman, Harry Connick Jr., Howie Mandell, Suzanne Somers and hundreds of others.

Jack Roberts, a native of Malden, was a graduate of Boston College and a 1967 graduate of Malden High School.

He leaves no survivors. Services were held in Los Angeles for Jack Roberts with some 100 friends attending.
