Obituary: Frank R. Pontifex Jr.

Pontifex Jr. died Sunday, March 16.

Mr. Frank R. Pontifex Jr., a resident of Malden, formerly of Medford, and beloved husband of Joan L. (Langley), died unexpectedly on Sunday morning, March 16, 2014. He was 65.

Born in Medford on Dec. 1, 1948, he was the beloved son of Frank R. Sr. and Elizabeth B. (Bent) Pontifex of Medford. Frank was a graduate of Medford High School and had retired on Feb. 1, 2014, from New England Coffee, where he was employed as a machinist for many years. He was a Vietnam Air Force veteran. Frank loved rock music and enjoyed going to concerts and collecting concert T-shirts. He also enjoyed collecting beer cans and was an avid sports fan, especially the Patriots. In his spare time, Frank like to work in his garden and in and around his home. He was an honest man and had specific people he called his friends. He also liked to debate with just about anyone. He will be dearly missed.

Besides his beloved wife, Joan, and parents, Frank and Elizabeth, Frank is survived by his loving children, Erik K. Pontifex of Revere and Heather and her husband Ronnie Repoza of Malden, devoted sister, Karen J. and her husband Robert A. Scalisi of Medford, cherished grandson, Ryder D. Repoza, who called him “Bapa,” dearest niece and nephews, Michael, Kevin, Daniel, Steven, James, Christopher and Lisa. He was also the brother of the late Diane E. and her husband Paul Milligan.

His funeral service will be celebrated in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Ave., Medford, Thursday at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be private.
