Obituary: Bernadine 'Bernie' Keefe

Keefe died Tuesday, April 15.

M. Bernadine "Bernie" Keefe, 72, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 15, 2014. She was born on Dec. 17, 1941 to her parents M. Helen (McGlory) and Manuel M. Pacheco. Bernie was raised and educated in Malden. She is is a graduate of Immaculate Conception Grammar School as well as Girls Catholic High School.

For more than 30 years, Bernie worked as a laboratory technician at the Medford Medical Lab in Medford Square. She was a long time parishioner at the former St. Peter's Parish in Malden where she was an active volunteer for the food pantry. An avid traveler, Bernie made annual trips to her residence in Ormond by the Sea, Fla.

She was the beloved wife of the late Robert V. Keefe; the sister of the late Janet Kennedy; the aunt of Shelby Kennedy and her partner Renee' Ancora of Durham, N.C., and Sharon Kennedy and her partner Vincent Guarrera of Lenox; and the grand aunt of Preston and Ian Kennedy. She is also survived by her dear friend David Ross of Medford as well as many other friends and colleagues.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden, on Saturday, April 19, at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with interment in St. Patrick Cemetery in Stoneham. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday, April 18, from 4-8 p.m.
