Obituary: Ann Hourihan

Hourihan died Saturday, April 19.

Ann M. Hourihan, 98, of Malden, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2014. She was born in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland, Canada, on Nov. 5, 1915.

Beloved wife of the late Joseph Hourihan and mother of the late Janice Zambello. She is survived by her devoted son, Joseph Hourihan of Malden; by her grandchildren, Ann (Hourihan) Maloney and her husband Michael and John Hourihan and his wife Nancy, all of Wakefield; by her great grandchildren, Brett Maloney, Kayla Hourihan and Kelly Hourihan; and by her son-in-law, Frank Zambello of Malden. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Ann has been a resident of Malden since 1967. She was previously a longtime resident of East Boston. For many years, she worked in the cafeteria for the Malden Public Schools. Above all else, Ann was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden, on Friday, April 25, at 9 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial celebrated at St. Joseph Church in Malden at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 24, from 4-8 p.m.
