Charity Honors Memory of Former Malden-Native

Friends of Malden resident who succumbed to cancer are invited to annual fundraising event.

First Annual Fundraiser Event for Mary (Fallon) Gistis

MALDEN - A local charity will be holding its first annual fundraiser to benefit cancer research. The charity, My Sister Mary Foundation, was founded in memory of Mary E. (Fallon) Gistis, who passed away from cancer in 2009 at the age of 41. She graduated from Malden High School in 1985 and was the daughter of former Mayor of Malden Thomas H. Fallon.

Mary Gistis was active in the south shore area as a theater actress, and participated in several plays. She was also an avid photographer, and aside from nature and landscape photography, she photographed headshots for many of her fellow actors and friends.

The event will feature some of her pictures and videos of her plays, and it aims to bring her friends & fellow actors together with her family. The event will be held from 6-9:30 PM on Saturday November 10th at the Holiday Inn in Rockland, MA, located just off Route 3 (exit 14).  Tickets are $50 per person and will include food, live music and various silent auction items.

My Sister Mary Foundation was established in 2012 by several members of Mary’s friends and family. The charity’s goal: raise $100,000 to benefit cancer research and cancer treatment facilities. The charity’s website touts a variety of fundraising ideas and events being considered over the next five years.
