Mystic Valley Girls Soccer Starts New Shutout Streak

The Mystic Valley girls’ soccer team beat Minuteman Tech on Monday by a score of 2-0.  Coach Michael White said that the girls “played our best first half of the season”.   Samantha Rizzo got things started for the Eagles with a goal two minutes into the game.  She would later add an assist on Krystiana Dimaro’s goal.  They each had two points in the game.  

The defense was very strong against a very talented team.   The defense was lead by Kathryn McPherson and Amanda Kerner.  Alex Cimetti did a great job in shadowing Greater Lawrence’s best player throughout the game and she played her best game by far.  Jackie Lane made 7 saves in route to her 9th shutout of the season.  Her current goals against average is .1%!!

With the win the Eagles qualified for the tournament which is a great accomplishment so early in the season. 

Mystic Valley Cross Country Splits with Greater Lawrence

The Mystic Valley Cross Country teams split their meet against Greater Lawrence High School on Monday afternoon.

The girls’ team defeated Greater Lawrence by a score of 16-46. The win was solidified with another strong team effort, as the Eagles took the top 4 places. The girls were led by Sophomore Brittany Lin who came in 1st place overall with a time of 23:10. She was followed by Sophomore Vanessa LoChirco (2nd place overall, 24:04) and Junior Elise Sheehan (3rd place overall, 24:59).

The boys’ team lost by a score of 15-49. They were led by Sophomore Patrick McPherson who finished 7th overall with a time of 18:12. He was followed by Senior Patrick Moran (11th overall, 20:03) and Freshman Christian Kinnon (13th overall, 20:07).

Coach Jon Bush looked to the improvement he saw in the runners: “the most important take away from this race, win or lose, was the individual improvement of the runners. We raced the same course less than three weeks ago and almost every single runner posted a better race time than before. “
