Mystic Valley Seniors Win Posse Scholarship

Posse

Two Mystic Valley seniors, Siobhan Glynn and Hari Perisic, have been selected by the Posse Foundation for full-tuition scholarships. These students are selected based on leadership potential and academic success. Siobhan will be attending Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania, and Hari will be attending Centre College in Kentucky.

Mystic Valley Assistant Director, George Benzie stated that “we are extremely proud of the hard work and dedication from Hari and Siobhan. It is great to see that their strong work ethic led them to receiving full scholarships to the college of their choice.

Posse is a student leadership program where students from major cities are selected to attend partner colleges all over the USA. The philosophy is that students will be most successful if they are surrounded with a supportive peer group. Students are chosen based on leadership and motivation to succeed.

Each fall, students are nominated by high schools and community-based organizations for their leadership and academic potential. Posse partner colleges and universities award merit based leadership scholarships to multicultural teams of 10 students each. These teams (Posses) attend college together. The concept of a Posse works for both students and college campuses and is rooted in the belief that a small, diverse group of talented students- a Posse- carefully selected and trained can serve as a catalyst for increased individual community development. Identified for their leadership ability and overall motivation to succeed, Posse Scholars head campus organizations, encourage dialogue and programs that foster an inclusive campus environment and achieve academic success.
