Mystic Valley Runs Past Whittier

The Mystic Valley Cross Country teams closed their regular season with victories over Whittier Tech on Wednesday afternoon.

The boys’ team won by a score of 20-38 taking the top three places in the meet. They were led by Senior Patrick Moran who finished in 1st place overall with a time of 17:18. He was closely followed by Sophomore Patrick McPherson (2nd place, 17:21) and Freshman Christian Kinnon (3rd place, 17:51).

The girls’ team won another tight race by a score of 28-29, led by Sophomore Vanessa LoChirco who finished 2nd place overall with a time of 21:26. She was followed by Junior Elise Sheehan (3rd place overall, 22:02) and Freshman Karina Hanson (5th place overall, 23:08).

The girls finished their regular season with a 9-2 overall record while the boys finished at 6-4.

First year head coach, Jon Bush, who did an excellent job with the team this season said after the meet:  I’m proud of the effort that the boys and girls put in this entire season. Both teams experienced highs and lows but both come out stronger because of it. We still have more hard work to put in, and we’re looking forward to running our best races at the Commonwealth Athletic Conference Championship meet next Saturday.
