Mystic Valley Girls Basketball Starts Season with Win
The Mystic Valley girls’ basketball team got off on the right foot with a 60-30 win over Lynn Tech at home yesterday. The Girls came out strong taking a 13-2 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 24-9 lead at the half. The girls put the game away with a strong start to the second half scoring the first 11 points to pull away.

Freshman Meghan Foley led the way for the Lady Eagles with a stat sheet- filling 12 points, 7 rebounds, 6 steals, 5 assists and 2 blocks while committing just 1 turnover. Sophomore Paulina Petras added a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while senior Jordan Sullivan scored 14 and sophomore Jessica Phinney scored 13. Senior Kathryn McPherson added 7 assists and senior Joanna Petras played spectacular defense, holding one of the league’s top returning scorers to just 2 points through halftime.
Coach Jason Cantwell was proud of the girls, saying “it was a complete team effort, all 12 players contributed in some way”.

Prior to the varsity game, the jv girls won 47-14. The Lady Eagles return to the court tomorrow, at four o’clock in Methuen against Fellowship Christian Academy.
