Four Mystic Valley Basketball Players Named All Stars

Joey Foley, Hari Perisic, Greg Statho, and Ben Bottrell all received honors.

Four members of Mystic Valley’s varsity basketball team were recently named to the Commonwealth Athletic Conference all star team. Selected to the team were: Ben Bottrell who was also named league MVP; Greg Statho; Hari Perisac and Joey Foley.

Ben Bottrell was the team’s leading scorer averaging 17 points a game. This is his second time on the all star team. Head Coach Tony Ferullo says “Ben has developed into a very good basketball player from last year to this season.  That’s because he really worked on his game during the off season, playing as much as he could in order to get better.  Ben has been our leading scorer all season, scoring many of his points in a variety of ways inside the paint .  He has certainly been a big reason for the success of our team this year.”

Greg Statho averaged 13 points per game.“A four year starter, Greg has been a good all-around player and consistent scorer for us throughout his high school career.  He is an outstanding outside shooter, able to connect from anywhere on the court.  His ability to put the ball in the basket has helped us win many games over the years, and his legacy of being the first player in school history to enter the 1,000-point club will last forever.”

Hari Perisic is the only junior of the group. “Hari is high quality performer at both ends of the court.  His offensive set of skills include getting to the basket off the dribble as well as hitting the outside shot.  Throughout the season, Hari has handled a number of key responsibilities, such as running the point guard position and guarding the opponent’s best offensive player, with poise and confidence.  He has a very high basketball IQ.”

Joey Foley will be participating in the 3 point contest at half time of the all star game. “The best way to describe Joey is that he is a multi-talented player.  His versatility has been remarkable, evident by him playing the point guard, shooting guard, and small forward positions at various times this season.  Joey is a tough match-up because he can drive to the basket and hit the outside shot.  He is also a relentless performer, giving his heart and soul for the good of the team.”
