Mystic Valley Boys Soccer Knocked Out of Tourney

The Mystic Valley Boys Soccer team was eliminated from the MIAA tournament by a very tough North Reading team. The Eagles knew they were going up against a team that had tied with (top team in the state) Masco earlier this season and that they had a tough game ahead. The first 10 minutes of the game was all Eagles, making fantastic runs, good passing and some very close shots. However, North Reading was able to settle down and put in 4 goals before the half with some fantastic shots on net.

The Eagles put in a goal on a direct kick from Tomas Drahos late in the second half. It was one of the most impressive goals of the season.

After the game, Coach Carlos-Luis Brown said that “I was very proud of the effort the boys put on the field. Coach Zindman and I were both happy with the level and intensity the boys had practiced with this week going in to the tournament, and this game was a great culmination to it. The seniors stepped up in big ways and should be proud of their efforts. We are graduating 9 seniors this year. These were the freshmen that started the program as a JV squad and helped build to a record of 27-19-5 overall as a program. Thank you to Giuseppe Iacovone, Hari Perisic, Ryan Hazel, Elvent Chenh Tu, Tomas Drahos, Dino Bulic, Marvin Morrisset, Brendon Phung, and Stephen DiBenedetto for all your hard work, dedication, and heart over the last four years.

We will miss these young men, but based on the last third of the season, the young players who were stepping up and move into new roles next year are going to be a fantastic group as well. We are looking forward to next season already”.
