Malden Boys Under 18 at Soccer State Championship

Submitted by Foster Morales, Edited by Kim Brookes

Malden Youth Soccer's Boys Under 18 team, coached by Foster Morales and Jorge Gonzalez, finished another successful season with a trip to the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions.

The team began with only nine players, but their character and sound collective effort kept attracting more interest and players as they won their first four regular season games. Their team success was a result of passion and endless dedication to the team and the game.

Having won the Middlesex Youth Soccer League's Commissioner's Cup tournament, Malden's BU18 moved on to MTOC. Unfortunately, several of the boys had already left on summer vacation so they did not have a full roster.

During the first tournament stage, Malden BU18 won all three games and so reached the final four. They played well and led the semi-final game by one goal at half-time. Then, the heat and humidity began to take its toll on Malden's players. With three injured and unable to continue playing, the team was unable to prevail. Nonetheless, making it so far in the tournament was an honorable and great team accomplishment.

Coaches Foster and Gonzalez, and all of Malden Youth Soccer congratulate our fine 2013 BU18 players.
