Boston Mayor's Cup Champions "Hat Trick"

Malden/East Boston Youth Hockey (MEB) wins Boston Mayor's Cup Championship

Malden/East Boston Youth Hockey (MEB) is celebrating this week with wins in all three divisions competing in the annual Boston Mayor's Cup tournament.  Our MEB Mite, Squirt, and Peewee teams all won in the tournament championship games Sunday at Conte Forum at Boston College (BC).

Joining several other Malden/East Boston teams over the past few years since the inception of this merged team, our players this weekend showed grit and determination.  The tournament draws competitors from teams across Metropolitan Bostontg area in the championship game for this tournament, heralded for the elite players in individual sports from around the Boston metro area.

Our teams performed quite well in the tournament, with our youngest players (Mites) delivering the widest margin at a score of 11-2 over Dorchester, the next level up (Squirts) winning 4-1 over Parkway, and the PeeWees outscoring their opponents from Dorchester 4-3.

MEB's home ice is at the Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Rink in East Boston (Orient Hights), and we offer a chance for your children to play from age 4 in our Learn-to-Skate program through high school with full and half-year programs to allow for teens to play on their school teams as well. Youngsters learn skills, develop team and sportsmanship traits, and create bonds of friendship that can last a lifetime.

Our Learn-to-Skate Clinic is a program for girls and boys ages 4 and over. The Hockey Clinic is a basic learn to skate, learn to play hockey program with two one-hour practices each week. There are three levels taught; learn-to-skate, basic skills, and advanced skills. Classes are held on Sundays at 11:30AM and Wednesdays at 6:00PM at the Porrazzo Rink in East Boston. The fee for this session is $160 for 10 weeks, and includes a free hockey jersey. For new skaters to the program, we require a copy of the child’s birth certificate, and payment is required for all skaters at registration.

Contact us to start your son or daughter in a new endeavor or return them to the sport they love. MEB looks forward to this with new team dynamics, new players, coaches, friendships, and new levels of achievement to be reached while having fun and learning a lot along the way!

Registration forms can be obtained per request by e-mail to mebhockey1@aol.com , or direct questions to Peter Giuliano: 617-966-6598. Additional details found on our website at: www.mebhockey.com.
